Danza De Los Diablitos – Dance of the Little Devils in Boruca Costa Rica

We experience Danza De Los Diablitos aka Dance of the Little Devils , a festival of the indigenous people of Boruca, Costa Rica the celebrates driving the Spanish Conquistadors from Boruca in the 1500s. The Borucans wear their famous Boruca masks in a symbolic reinactment of their battle with the Spaniards, with the fierce looking masks and bulking up with banana leaves helping to make them look even more intimidating. The festival Begins on December 30 and concludes on January 2nd with a battle in the town center and eventually the boring of the bull at night. Boruca is proud to have maintained their indigenous Identity for all of these years and the many talented artist of the community are still busy working on their unique Masks and other very special traditional art.
